The only thing I would want to see differently is the value in the colour... both shades of grey are similar in value and it would be nice to see a bit more contrast... or rather, one or the other be a bit darker or lighter. Browse through Houzz images, I'm sure you'll find grey on grey combinations and see how you feel about them.

I agree I would do a lighter color grey both the same would look very dull.

Definitely too much gray...one or the other. What is the flooring in your photo of the cabinets? That could be a guide. Be careful with your lighting. You will need good light or the room will look dull.

You need some warmth and light in there with some natural wood tines. No more prison library look.

No. Much paler cabinetry if you want gray. In fact, I would skip the gray floor entirely. Been done, and done, and done and done.: ) !!! Pick a "forever" brown flooring and do the gray cabinet .....lighter please.

Guess it's been said, but if you want gray flooring, go with a painted cabinet. If you want gray cabinets, go with a light porcelain or much lighter gray. But the grays are on their way out the door, so something a bit more timeless might be beneficial.

I like both colors/finishes, just not together. Go several shades lighter on the flooring, or switch to gray tile, or something like that. With no contrast, all the finishes will sort of disappear.

They are just way too similar.

No I would not do that as light floor darker cabinets, lighter counter top. If you do the same tone it makes the room look bland and no accent feature to it.

I would do the floor lighter or darker, not the same hue. Gray everything is over btw. Most of America has unfortunately not gotten the memo yet. In a few years people will wake up and realize Gray has become the Beige that everyone detested 15 years ago.

So it's not a modern home but a new home on a farm. Wondering if doing the island in a dark colour would break up the grays?

Sure would. how about doing the island in a color, like a farmhouse blue?

The gray is too powerful. You would need MASSIVE amounts of yellow, or red, or purple or SOMETHING to get the two grays to do anything but look "dark and brooding".

I would pick the surface that MUST be gray...and then toss the other. If flooring is stumping you, then switch gears and start looking at counter tops. Once you have 2-3 options in counters, you can take them shopping for flooring.

The cabinet gray is VERY strong. And it will require HUGE amounts of LIGHT and COLOUR to get it to move into the background.

And yes...gray flooring (especially dark gray) is out...the lighter/whiter colours are in (have been "in" in Europe for at least 3-5 years) which means we have already moved on from gray...we just don't know it yet.

What are the floors in your other spaces? Choose a floor color that flows from your other areas into the kitchen, and then make the cabinets either lighter or darker. Your current choices are too similar.
