I think a very very pale pink would look nice - and I love the idea of glamming it up with a gold framed mirror.

I don't mind the floor so I would throw down a fluffy bath mat and concentrate on the walls. I like the lavender idea with purple accents or I could imagine using dark red, like a cranberry color for a more masculine look. Turquoise, perhaps with a very small amount of bright yellow, is another color that might be interesting.

I like the vintage bathrooms and I really like the idea of working with the existing space rather than a trendy remodel

I had a bathroom like this and loved its classic look. I first used pear green on the walls with a black and white toile. I recently changed to wickham grey and it's very pretty.

Just finished my 1959 1000sf ranch upstairs bath very calming. hard to see but his towels are gray and mine lavender. I think any color you choose would work with the basics you have. Red, blue, purple, pink or yellow all go good with gray. I tried a couple different greens before this trying for vintage but they just looked bad. Don't think it's a great color for a bath unless used in small accents. I have vintage green things as accents in this bath. What colors do you like?

Also like yellow or mint green or any type of fun pop color! Also depends who the bathroom is for...is it for kids or adult etc.

Frameless shower door, and perhaps an updated mirror. Leave the rest alone. Looks very nice as is.

I love this bathroom! (I almost bought a house because of the retro bathroom that was in perfect shape like this! (Am guessing the tiles are more pink than shows here) Suggestion: get some paint swatches at HD and match the shade of grey in the floor tile - then go 2 shades lighter (paint dept can do this if your swatch does not have gradation) for the walls. Doing this will draw your eye from the grey floor up to the ceiling and back. It has good bones, you can't go wrong.

I absolutely like your bathroom as is. My50s house has pink tile, black trim and floor is light small pink, grey ceramic tiles, too many great opinions suggested I leave it alone and just paint the walls so I did, the walls are a midnight blue called Theatre Dress, changed lighting to crystal scones, added black silver shower curtain, it is beautiful, loads of compliments always.

Natros, I'm betting your tile is the same as what's in my (1950s NoVa) bathroom. Nightmare to match, because it seems to be lacking any undertones! I've done red (a true red) and it looked nice, but got dark (or maybe I got bored with it). Then went white - very bright, but every speck of dust & single cat hair showed. Just had some recaulking done & am now in the same boat - what to do with these walls. It's also an incredibly small space (no normal fixtures-- sinks, vanities, etc) will fit, so have few "add a splash of *insert color here*" options. Please do let us know what you decide... I'm plum out of ideas!
