This is my first house and it's quite a traditional semi-detached. It had an old pvc door that would jam a lot and was a pain to open and close so I wanted to go for something more rustic and suited to the house.

My family decided to take over and call in an acquaintance who would do it at a negotiated price. I've been so preoccupied with other things, I went along with it. I thought i would be able to go choose a door and all the accessories but, everything was so rushed, he turned up with everything - a plain block door, some cheap locks, no letter box. I didn't know what to make of the door because i'm clueless. I don't know what kind of wood it is or if this is how front doors normally look before being stained/painted. The look and feel of it resembles a fire door/hotel door rather than a house front door I'm used to seeing. I went and bought some wood stain/varnish, all new locks, a letter box and handle which i'm happy with but i'm still unsure about this door. I also asked them if they weren't supposed to colour the door before doing anything else but they said they would do it at the very end..?...i assumed they knew what they were doing.

I feel stupid because I feel like it looks odd but maybe I'm just being paranoid. Maybe it's because it hasn't been coloured yet...? I don't know what i'm doing.
