Ok, let's include aluminum profiles as well as steel... anyone?

I've heard there are some very good manufacturers in Poland and Lithuania, and though they distribute widely in Europe, it is difficult to find anyone who has imported European windows to the States.

There are so many manufacturers to choose from... I'll start to reach out to them. I've imported other equipment before, but I hate to be the guinea pig on such an expensive purchase.

Are you purely looking for an imported manufacturer? There are stateside fabricators of steel windows (Bliss Norman and Hopes are two I have talked to before).

Importing European windows is fine, it is done all the time. But all the companies I am familiar with all have representation here in the US and you have to go thru one of them as they will not sell direct to a homeowner.

We sell Reynaers aluminum, and Panda..others are Western and Fleetwood all are pretty high end.. for steel there is Hope's and Optimum both out of NY..no need to go to Europe for steel..now if your trying to get European tilt turns out of steel i couldnt tell you where to go or if they even make those products...steel windows are a custom price tag for sure we only use them for fire rated windows most of the time..we import Unilux Windows from Germany they arent steel or all aluminum however.

When you import European windows how do you proof that some of them are tempered or have a safety foil to meet the US code since they usually do not mark it on the window?

From what I know the glass is all still etched that it is tempered.
