Stripped pine - what is it?

I like the look of stripped pine furniture and love working with wood. I want to learn more about stripped pine, but do not know where to begin.

What is it? Is it a technique? Is it just stripped furniture?

Yup, just pine furniture that has had the finish stripped off. Designers/etc. are constantly looking for new terms to describe old processes and trends---like removing the previously popular painted finish on inexpensive pine furniture to make a 'new' look.

What makes this technique look good is when the pine is what is termed 'old growth'. Meaning the grain is much more dense than the newer trees. Plus the species of pine will make a difference. Some look better than others.
