best guess is an Abies alba of some sort. Unless the buds are very white and resinous, the Abies koreana.

my first thought when I saw the first picture was koreana, but the second shot makes me think alba... I think glacier got it right

It's all about the buds. Foliage is pretty similar, but needles facing random directions on the shoot's adaxial aspect speak alba to me.

Could it be nebrodensis? the buds are whitish but very much non-resinous

Dave I've always admired your adaxial aspect.

Does you husband know about this?

Shhhhhh....

Dave, speak 'Alba' to me!

Get rid of those single-quotes, capital A, and show me some italic font and it's on.

Ha ha ha!

plant nomenclature grammar nerds. It is true, you can find anything online.

if it can't be said in botanical Latin, it shouldn't be said at all.

Abies alba adaxial aspect all too alliterative, albeit I agree on alba.
