Get a clap-on-clap-off light that will solve all your problems. That being said you can get a wireless table lamp.

Anything other than that putting an outlet in the floor, without that you will have to rig it to make it work which will create a trip hazard and all that other stuff you don't want.

Do you have space to add a scatter rug from the table to the wall? Also, if space between couch and wall is not far, try redirecting cord to go under couch and rug to wall.

Have a floor outlet installed before the new hardwood is laid. Your flooring installer probably has an electrician contact for occasions such as these. I suggest you have the outlet recessed and a matching hardwood "cover" made, a future buyer may not like the look of a brass outlet...or need it.

Best thing I ever did in my homes was have outlets installed on the floor.

We also have some outlets installed in the floors. "Floating" furniture in rooms and placing lamps can be challenging without strategically placed outlets.
