All depends on your budget... what are you willing to spend?

You need to think about how a kitchen area that is so modern will blend with the rest of your house. You will likely need to update everything else within view as well - all the flooring, lighting, fireplace, entryway,doors, etc.

What is the budget you have set aside for this project. That will be the main factor in bringing your vision to fruition. This style and look is not cheap to do. Do you envision incorporating the eating area into the overall design. You could do a long wall of kitchen with your range venting on that outside wall and a long island in front of that line. this would use the space from the left to right and all along to the slider wall. New flooring would be required. New appliances. New lighting, new cabinets, new countertops, new faucets and plumbing, etc. Don't faint but that approach could easily go 60K and up. Probably more up than down. Is that in a range you were thinking? Or are you just looking to "update" existing kitchen. Even that is not inexpensive.

Right now I am looking to update the existing kitchen with as much of the design elements that I have provided in the themes. I want to have the look and color themes but at a reasonable cost. I am ok with the existing layout. The main thing is that I want a vent to the outside. I am ok with existing appliances. I am not looking to extend the kitchen out to the dining area this time although if it isn't too much more I would consider it.

I was thinking about refinishing or repainting the existing cabinets to white.

My budget is probably no more than $15-$20k.

Honestly I do not know the length between the last kitchen cabinets to dining room wall. My home is in escrow right now. Best guess is 10-15 feet.

That is a tall order for that budget. If you put a new range where your existing cook top is, you will have to move the microwave. that is where a hood and vent possibly could be added. That is $3-4K. Then where does the microwave go? Possibly redo a cabinet below the island for a microwave space there? $250-400. There should be power under there and I think I see an outlet on the outside of the island so that is doable. Then paint the cabinets and perhaps change the doors to a flat, modern look, painted as well. That takes most if not all that budget. But you need some on site assistance to see what is really achievable. You can do an "update", but don't expect any of the looks you presented. Those kitchens are $100K and up kitchens. You wouldn't want to invest that much in this home anyway, so just scale back your dreams and get someone in to help you get as much as you can toward your vision.

How much do you think it is just to repaint the cabinets to white? Change the countertops to quartz white/gray? Keep all appliances and install a ventable microwave that vents outside?

We greatly modernized our kitchen on a small budget by painting the cabinets in white, installing modern stainless steel hardware (handles), installing modern backsplash in white, grey and black tones, replacing countertops and some appliances. I don't know how you feel about reprinting the wall, but I'd consider doing that as well, as your current color is very traditional and warm.

As I said above, paint cabinets by pro $2-4K since you have a lot of cabinets, uppers and lowers and an island with cabinets. Countertops to quartz $3-5K (3 slabs); Stainless hardware approx. 30 @7ea-$280; Don't know of a vent-able microwave. Microwaves with vents simply semi-filter the hot air and some grease and blow it back into the room. A vent and hood over cooktop and ductwork inside wall and pathway to exterior wall from cooktop current position from $2,000-6K. Just depends on the size, and work required to install vent path to outside wall, changes to cabinetry, etc. If it is even feasible. So, with those caveats, a range of from $5500 - ??? The variables for venting are what are of most concern. If you can go straight up and out through at attic space above the kitchen to the roof, that would be simplest, but if you have to find a interior path, that would be the most difficult and fraught with potential problems. (Water lines, interferences with wiring, etc.) These are the numbers I could get in the greater Houston area, but depends greatly on your location. If you are on the Calif. coast it could be triple that. Just depends. Get some contractors in and start with professional cabinet painters and go from there. Quartz is most expensive countertop. Might think in terms of laminate. Some of the new laminates, Formica, etc. are very nice, and a good bit less expensive. You don't want to overbuild your area. Hope that helps.
