paint color to go with green couch.

First off my apologies to those that helped with my previous post. I don't know how to edit the title to say previous post has been updated and new feedback needed. I tried bumping.

Long story short we're getting our house ready to sell so that when a 4 bedroom in our neighborhood becomes available we are in a position to sell. 4 bedroom homes are rare in our neighborhood so we would like to move but we no it could be a while.

The suggestions from the last post: remove popcorn ceiling, replace lights, paint, and buy a green couch(just kidding). I bought the green couch b/c I loved it.

So I have replaced the lights and scraped the ceiling. Now I'm trying to pick a color to go with my it. Please help me out! I wanted a lovely blush color. My IRL friend said no.

We know the carpet needs replaced. We are debating b/c if we are staying we would love to run wood floors in the dining and living room but if we are moving then we would replace with carpet b/c we won't get our money back out of it. Also that corner couch is going in the basement and the tan couch is leaving the house.

You do not need a color to go with the green couch. You need a color that will appeal to prospective buyers. An off white or BM Edgecomb Gray perhaps. I happen to think blush would have looked nice but you can do that at the new house.

I LOVE the green sofa! Great choice! I'd paint the area above the chair rail white OR paint it the background color below the chair rail and then paint the bottom half all white.

Get this one ready for market - i.e. NEUTRALIZE so the prospective buyers can "see" their furniture working in your home. Search the box above under "Photos" for the phrase "green sofa" and you'll find lots of neutrals that will do just fine for the market. Then come back when you find your new home and we'll work with your fabrics and textiles to get the right look for you.

what undertone am I aiming for? I got all the neutral samples at home depot. The blue and the gray undertones don't seem to work (too cool.) The beige tones seem to work better but some read yellow and orange.

Go to a paint store and have them help you. Bring a couch cushion/pillow and pick out a neutral with the right tones. I have a great paint store in Seabrook, NH that is really good at understanding the bases in the "white/neutral" paints so that it will work.

Just to add to Suz's great advice -- always bring home the paint chips to see how they look in your space because colours are affected by the different lighting, etc in every space and on every wall within that space.

Take all that trim off the walls it adds nothing to the space and as for wall color as neutral as possible for resale. I am not sure about your area but where I live you would get back the money you spend on replacing carpet with even laminate, I would never buy a house with wall to wall carpet just too yucky .Either add more drapery panels hung properly or get blinds and some actual art work on the walls will do wonders.
