I'm not a fan of the smooth stainless farmhouse sink, as they tend to get scratched along the front from belt buckles and the button on jeans, as people tend to lean against a sink when using it. Have you considered a hammered copper, nickel or hammered stainless version? Much more forgiving....

You posted my dream sink! I was just on Native Trails' website earlier this evening drooling over the Farmhouse Brushed Nickel sink! Unfortunately, it's $4,100 :( You made a very good point about belt buckles scratching the sink--I never thought of that. Thanks!

I would worry more from the men working around that sink during the remodel process with their tools and machinery (especially the countertop fabricator) than your boys... 16 gauge is quite thick and not that easy to put a dent to.

We've installed several, most notably this one: 4 or 5 years ago and they haven't had any problems, although I believe there were no children living in the house. I think that brushed nickel or a beaten copper would definitely hold up better over time.
