My choices of lighting

Yes. Something simple that glows in a color from the table, preferably something that hangs high, closer to the ceiling. If you like the idea of globes, I bought some from this artist and love them. You can customize the color-mane the pink or another color from the table. There is no reason to rush this very important choice. Just put up a cheap flush mount and take your time making the right decision.

I really like the idea of picking up the pale pink or pale green.

My thoughts are it's going to take a very unique looking light to pair with the table. I'll keep looking as well.

I think the wrought iron ones your posted initially are best if only to stay somewhat in keeping with the rest of the house. Importantly this light will be seen from other parts of the house so it needs to be!

The light above is not as pricey as the other silk light. The most important thing is you need to know your length and width of your table so you get the proper size chandelier no matter what you get. I looked back and don't see any dimensions, but perhaps I've overlooked it?

I am pretty sure your table is art nouveau,so use that when looking for lighting and chairs. I love these chairs. Here is the RH light that is similar to the one you were asking about. Also one that I think would look great with the table if going with iron. It is a little lighter looking, in mass size which I think is important here because of the heavy look of the table itself.

The table dimensions are 73 inches wide-37.75 inches deep 29 inches high. The black base is cast iron and it weighs a ton and lights up from within.

I spoke with an antique dealer a while back from Wisconsin because she had a similar one online for sale. She said she has only seen the one other like it in her 40 years as a dealer. She also said hers did not come with chairs. She wasn't sure of the age she said possible very early 1900's .She also said she could find a name or stamp.

you asked if I was selling because you saw it on craigslist, that's so odd it hasn't been listed in a very long time and when it was it was very undervalued.

This is the story I have the table a long time and it proceeds my husband and he hates it and wants to sell it. And the way it looks with bad lighting and those ugly chairs I don't blame him. He also says it doesn't match the rest of the house its more Victorian.

BUTTT I like it, so I'm trying to blend it .

I told him if I find someone interested I'll entertain selling it then.

The table is gorgeous and I think you should keep it! That being said, it looks very structured and hard and cold, so I would opt for a parson type ultrasuede texture chairs completely upholstered in a color that looks great with the lights on or off. An over the top chandelier would be lovely too, and then a paint in a moody color say orange or or blue or green, etc. that is a color found in the table top, something strong to balance and soften the table.

This room below looks like it might be an answer. The colors are medium and give a soft feel even though the curtains are green, the walls are gold, and the chairs are purple with a bronze silk wrapped chandelier.....even the art work blends! This look might work nicely I think, minus all the clutter on the table....the table is the centerpiece....!

I also agree that upholstery would soften the room, both on the chairs and more substantial drapes, I am thinking velvet? Or maybe taffeta. Pick up colors from the table.

The base unfortunately looks like it was spray painted shiny black at some point which makes it more prominent and heavy than I think in should be. For this reason and others I would absolutely avoid wrought iron or black lighting. Pick on the lighter, nature-inspired (art nouveau), rounded, colorful elements of the table.

Tell hubby to stand down. The room needs more elements to pull it together and work. There is no reason your whole house has to be the same style. A piece like this is worth designing around, it is what will make your home interesting and beautiful.

The Wide Amber Bowl Pendant Light looks nice with the table. Still lets the table be the showpiece and doesn't take away from it. Something like it would look nice, but needs to be a bit larger.

What is the height of your ceiling? I should have asked that with the question about the size of the table. That also plays a bit of a roll in selecting a light.

The ceiling is regular 8 foot unfortunately.

These are from shades of light but not only do they pick up the lines of the table but stain glass as well to lighten the room

I like that bowl pendant with the table too. Just needs to be bigger.

Does anyone think this would work? Its definitely more then I wanted to spend on a light ,it would be nice to find something similar less expensive.

It's not bad but I would still avoid more heavy black details. I would want something where the structure was not meant to be noticed, or was not at eye level, like the pendants or a flush mount. The light should compliment not dominate.

Just as a point of reference, while I think you are headed in the right direction by choosing a chandelier with curved but simple lines, looking at this one I would think it was a little more art deco. You would think it wouldn't really be important but when I look at it, I feel like the light has more modern, Geometric lines while the table has a nature-inspired design. You may not care, but I think it is important to take into consideration because the eyes see it even if you don't think it matters: it is just a bit off. You could get away with this more easily with a flush mount.

I also think you're going in the right direction by picking up the colors from the table. with the gold being the most prominent I'm not sure that's the way I would go but it still works.

Spitballing:

I like the fixture but it looks too contemporary to me for the table. The shade color is nice with it though. Did you look at Art Deco lighting?

I do too Tammy but they are 16" wide so I shrunk them. They have a smaller version which is it bad but I'm not sure about the design on the ride. I feel like less is more here for sure. I think the table is 56 inches on the ceiling is 8 feet

Those were found on Houzz. I am actually bananas about this banana leaf one. I didn't think I would quite like it enough and I wasn't even going to try it in the room, but it has such an antique feel to it that even though it isn't "art nouveau" it looks collected and eclectic. Also on Houzz.

Although I like the look,unfortunately I cant do pendants without redoing electrical and putting 2 boxes and getting rid of the one there ,patching and repainting which I just finished, so in lieu of that I will most likely stick to a single fixture.

I would rather spend the funds toward moving on to others needed renovations like hard wood floors through out.

Easy enough though a little busier: two pendants hanging from a single connection like in this picture, except I think you need to not three (too busy)
