Top loader washer needed

Need to replace a 7 year old Maytag. It still works but has quite a bit of rust. I maybe better off looking for water purification system. Water in Los Angeles County is hard. Do to a bad back I need a top loader. I was hoping to get a Electrolux pair but they don't carry top loader. I eliminated Samsung and other than LG I don't see anything else I should be looking at. Any suggestions?

Take a look at Fisher & Paykel, available both in regular agitator and low profile agitator versions. The low profile runs some cycles as High Efficiency and will use less water while still cleaning well.

Wash, rinse and spin. I think this is my 4th washer in 30 years and I know they are not built like before but just would like it to last at least 10 years. My mothers old Kenmore is still being used by her caregiver. Its at least 17 years old. I find that I have used mostly cold/cold. normal and colors/towels. We wash a lot of towels, but clothing do not need special treatment. Except for fishing clothes that may need pre-rinse because of blood.

I'm going to check the Fisher & Paykel website. I wish Miele was larger and Electrolux had a top loader

I've had a Speed Queen top load washer for 6 months now. I'm pretty happy with it. It's built sturdy which is rare these days. The hot water cycle is true tap hot. What I don't care for on it is that it doesn't have a heater to boost the temp up to super hot and cold water washes (which I never use) are true tap cold as well. Being in Los Angeles that isn't really a problem as the cold water isn't freezing cold like it is here. Some washers mix the tap cold with some hot to bring the cold up to more of a room temperature for better rinsing. I rinse in 38 degree water which I don't care for. Won't be a problem for you though. I've read nice things about the Fisher and Paykel washers here on this board. Wish I knew about them earlier to include in my choice making process.

How about the capacity.? I have 2 beds with California king bedding it can be quite bulky.

Sheets are one thing..but ca king comforters are not going to fit in a TL Queen. What size is your Maytag?

I wouldn't let the comforters not fitting get in your way. How often do you wash them? Could a laundromat be good enough when they need washing?

My Maytag is 4.3 if I remember correctly. Laundromat has worked in the past and during the summer months I wouldn't be using the heavier ones. I also was looking at the website for the TL SP {I now knows what it stands for). I'm going to check them out at local stores. LG I'll go to the big box stores.

I purchased a top loader speed queen after much research. Made the right decision. I think this unit will outlast me. It's a workhorse.

You mentioned that you wished Miele was larger. The Little Giant is, and @larsi has one and it takes anything he throws at it. He has California king bedding too. I don't know if he can fit a comforter in it. I have the standard Miele and mine takes a modest queen sized comforter, but not a bulky one.

Another vote for SQ.. We own about a dozen of them that we abuse in our business. We have them immediately next to the hot water heaters which are turned up to provide a 165F wash. I have one at home too. They clean well and should last more than 7 years. Our oldest one is over 10 years old and used all day (8-8) Mon-Fri and some on weekends. We've never had a service call on any of them. I did on the one at home because someone left nails in their pocket.
