Fence install questions

We have a ranch home and are getting a cedar fence. My question is how far up the side of the house should the fence go? My husband thinks the fence should go almost to the front of the house, and I think it should only go halfway up the side of the house period thoughts?

it really depends in the house and overall yard..we have aluminum fence and it comes at about 1/3 from the front of the house..but that is because of the house configuration..

Our HOA determined where we could put a fence.

Depends on how the fence and how you use the yard come together. If you want to capture the space on the side of the house for use as part of the fenced backyard, bring it farther forward. If not, save a couple of fence panels worth of $$$ and pull it farther back. There's no hard and fast rule, it comes down to what works for YOU.

(assuming there are no municipal or HOA regs, of course)
