Sure can. But it is perfectly cleaned. Just permanently yellowed from age.

The yellowing is usually unchangeable, but Oxi won't hurt the plastic. Unfortunately white plastic often oxidizes with age and turns yellow. If the fountain still works I wouldn't worry about it. Of course the yellowing may drive you crazy, in that case donate to a thrift store and get a nice looking new one. I love white but bought a platinum colored Bose just to avoid the yellowing over time.

Cats are never impressed but I bet the ceramic fountain water will taste better.

MizLizzie...You find it at Target, Walmart, Grocery store right next to the regular Clorox and Purex liquid bleaches. I use it in the dishwasher as a pre-wash when needed and for the laundry too (although I do not use bleach in the Miele washing machine, as Miele frowns upon this).

I agree, the plastic has oxidized from (most likely) light. I have a 23 y/o serger that did that. The part covered by the "crumb catcher" has not yellowed.

Gor for it with a good oxi soak. You've got nothing to lose. Hubby brings home his insulated metal mug that is horribly tea stained, and I give it an oxi soak. Good as new the next day!

For a pet dish, I would use inscented oxi in case the perfume attaches to the plastic. It might make the pet ill. Just a guess.
