Broken dishwasher part 2

So the day came and the Miele tec came.

He replaced the pressure switch and the heat relay, started the machine but it never came up to pressure in the pump, it just started and stoped. And when he came I asked about operating hours.

He whent out to the van got his computer and plugged it in to the machine. He got the faultcode list up first and the were even more problems. It did not help with the parts he replaced and with the faultcodes he found the machine is beyond help. First the pump was broken, then the watersoftner also had problems, so to fix it would be to expencive.

So now I am out of a dishwasher and it is easter holliday here and I got inlaws staying until sunday.

Next is what to get next. There are 3 models in the domestic side and 3 on profiline side.

I need a stainless steel outside because all my appliences are that.

Now it comes to how much I wanna pay and how badly I want i to be done in 20 min.

The tec also checked for operation hours and it was over 10000 so it is over age.

Sad sad sad to need an new machine in just 9 years but it has been used alot.

I think Miele's claim is their machines are tested to last 20 years or 10,000 operating hours - so you seem to have gotten your money out of it.

Keep us updated on the progress.

There are few machines on this planet that would have given you 10,000 great performing hours.

Instead of anyone thinking how awful a Miele dishwasher only lasted 9 years....VERY few of us have 10,000 operating hours in 9 years. I am impressed with Miele and their Service and longevity!

If you have been doing well for 9 years, not having a 20 min dishwasher cycle...do you need one now? ;) And the results truly cannot be great in 20 mins, and I'm sure the water and power used is very high!!

    Keep us posted!!!

Larsi: I know I use it alot and here are non other than Miele that can stand my use of the diahwasher. I love to cook and bake and love haveing family and friends at home and staying over night.

What I mean with it is sad to need one is I reaöly liked the machine I have, It has been great but the long programs are a downer, and I think they are even longer on the new machines. I do not put clean dishes inmy machine, they are dirty and need a longer program with prerince/wash.

Ofcourse I do not need a 20 Miele profiline dishwasher more tham you need your "little giant" ;-) it is a want not a need.....

Many years ago Miele had a sort of saying that their machines were built to last 21 years of 7500 washes. But back then the program only lasted about an hour so the machine parts did not get use nearly as much as the more than 2 hour programs today. Even my Miele tec said that the machines from years ago 80:s and back were alot better.

Whirlpool: thank you for those numbers, good to know I got alot out of my machine.

Gonna look this over after easter and call Miele professionell to se how much I can get the profiine machine for after that I will make my desition.

I have a Miele Futura classic (US) that has great basic cycles, stainless exterior and interior and a turbo option. The turbo option cuts the cycle run time by almost half. For example, the normal cycle is usually 2.5 hours, turbo runs in 90 minutes. Cleaning action is great. That's what I love about the Miele appliances, the base level is wonderful. Yes the higher levels do great things, but the base is great too. How about a different commercial dishwasher like Bosch. I don't know if Siemens makes dishwashers, but their other lines aren't bad. I don't like the Asian dishwashers too much plastic. Good hunting.

I think that is respectable service out of any dishwasher. Even being Miele, that's about the lifespan of any of them. Some much less than that.

The consumption values for the ProfiLine dishwasher aren't bad at all, I think. 4.5 gallons for a regular cycle sounds good to me. I'm not a fan of today's uber ultra-efficient dishwashers anyway. ;)

Yes my machine has gone beyonde in service than many others.

I have a worry as doing this as we all have when buying a big ticket applience is if I spend this much money do get my moneys worth?

I know that Miele are moveing some of their production to other countrys and as we all know newer stuff are not as good as years ago, my worry is if I buy a new machine a domestic one I wont get this many operating hours out of it and need to replace it sooner, but I I buy a profiline Miele I will get longer service and dont need to wait for these long cycletimes.

Whirlpool: thank you for those data, I am not to worryed about useong a bit more power and water, if It will clean my dishes faster I am all for it withing rime and reason.

I always worry about doing the right thing before I make a desition like this. It is good to be able to share it and get some good points from other people, you do not feel alone in makeing the disition.

RE: Miele moving production. Yes, there will, for example, be a new washing machine factory in Poland in 2020.

The Miele Ecoflex looks pretty cool, but I'll be the first to admit, I'm the last person to ask.

hmorton: thank you for your kind words. I think I will go for the profiline but as said will call Miele on Tuesday and how much it will be with shippong and install and I need to remember that I need a 400 volt line to it also ( easy done in my kitchen).

Cedric: looked at those also amd It is one of those it will be if I dont go for tye profiline Miele.

Bjorn, what bad timing for your dishwasher to die. Get the one you want or you may regret it. ....now what about till you have a new one? You can not be on your feet hours on end washing dishes...do you have a rental place nea r you that you could rent one for awhile? I'm thinking about you...Xox

    Dear MamaP

Good Idea about renting nut no there are'nt any of those here that rent out dishwashers. Well it could be worse but my hand get so dry, I do not like wearing gloves.

I agree on getting what I want but not to any expence, we'll se on tuesday after Easter holliday If I get a Proline or domestic Miele dishwasher.

    Happy Holliday MamaP
