Drought Conditions Update: Again, great progress with the recent precipitation, and great timing right at the start of the growing season. Approximately 48% of Massachusetts is currently under official drought status. For the area under drought status, less than 1% of the Commonwealth is classified as 'Severe Drought'. I can't believe we're still in a drought. My sump pump pit is full of water which is very rare. There is water everywhere in my area. Groundwater was seeping to the surface from underground cracks in the roads just a couple days ago.

We're definitely out of drought here in Plymouth. I transplanted a rose yesterday and I was amazed at how soggy the soil was.

I'm just hoping rain continues coming (on a reasonable schedule) so the indigenous fungus can kill the gypsy moth caterpillars when they hatch. We had a horrible infestation last year and egg masses are everywhere.

There has been enough rain to fill two 55 gal rain barrels and its raining tonight so I'm hoping that we get enough rain this summer to keep them filled,I hate paying Springfield price for water.
