mama, i know you once said that Tide With Bleach powder has more sodium percarbonate (peroxide) than Tide Free Gentle powder, but how can you tell? I'm trying to decide which one to buy this weekend.

Pat, I once spoke to P&G about this..I also wondered about the oxygen bleach in some of their powders..they told me they put a small amount in as a stain fighter, but not enough to whiten....also the Tide with Bleach powder has a bleach activator where I don't think the others do.

Pat are you looking for a Whites detergent or a all purpose detergent for everything? There really is no one detergent that does it all. You could use the Tide Free for everything and buy a seperate booster to add for whites. On the other hand, LOL, I don't recommend Tide with Bleach powder for colors as you will eventually end up with fading....tell me Pat if your choosing one of the above detergents what do you want it to do for you other than clean clothes of course?

mama, i was only using the Tide With Bleach powder on hubs whites, and sometimes mine as it does not make me itch. I was just thinking if the FreeGentle powder had the whitening power of the With Bleach, I would get it. But for myself, I waver between Tide FreeGentle liquid, Purex, all Free liquid, whatever this crazy Forum throws at me at any given time.

I will continue to use the powder on hubs whites, Purex on darks, and whatever on mine. By the by, following weeks of treatments, hubs cancer is GONE, but I'm STILL not getting married in my next life.

Thank you for your help again and again and again. Love you and wish you and your family the very best.

We've just got to meet some day. Saw a picture of her on this Forum a while back, and I feel like I've known her all my life. She's a composite of all the selfless women I've known who just keep on giving.
