Do I need to purchase additional slats to accommodate a foam mattress?

I recently purchased this bed to go with a foam mattress. I'm not using a box spring but was wondering if the slats that come with the bed are supportive enough to work. Do I need additional slats or some other foundation underneath the mattress?
