Tyler, I'm a woman, but I love masculine pieces. You should probably pick out masculine furniture (box shaped couch, for example) and use some plants and drapes to add femininity. But if I were you, I would start with Crate & Barrel for inspiration. Also Room & Board is masculine, but not quite as industrial, more modern. They are another great source of inspiration.

I have attached a few examples of lighting, barstools and dining chairs etc. Also have a look at mantiquesmodern.com Paint colour I like Gunmetal (Benjamin Moore). You could paint wall surrounding window and small wall full strength and then go half strength with the rest of the walls. Hope this helps...

It was tough for me to see the curtain, but consider a grey tone on tone geometric print. For the walls consider metal sculpture type art

Well, all the ladies have chimed in so I guess it's the guys turn. I don't want to just give you an of the cuff answer. I don't know enough about you to design your place. This is just general advise. Pick a couple of main pieces that are classic modern as your start. Blend in some wood pieces that are a bit rustic but not cliche. Take a look at the Restoration Hardware catalog. Select one item to buy, memorize the feel of their look. Now throw the catalog away. This will ensure that you don't get a "cloned" look. You are now ready to go out and look for things that resonate with you. I suggest staying out of the catalog stores so your place will look original. You don't want it to look like your following the crowd. If you feel lost hire a designer. You can get one by the hour or to do the entire job. Good luck and post pics when your done.
