Congrats on the house! Looks like Hibiscus syriacus - Rose of Sharon. We usually recommend living with the garden for a year to see what is there - apart from obvious weeds.

I agree with peren.all. Those seed pods look like hibiscus. Also, it is best to wait a year to see what you've got. Of course, as you identify any weeds or otherwise undesirable plants, you can remove them, but be careful about disturbing existing desirable plants.
