We are in NJ in Zone 6.

Some rhodos are evergreen and fragrant. You might even find one that echoes the color of your house. Mountain Laurel may be evergreen, too. You can find some rhodos and mountain laurel that are native. Whether you can find the color you want, evergreen, fragrant AND native is another question.

Under advice, there's Gardenweb forums. There's probably an NJ gardening forum although for some states, the state forum isn't that active and a wider region forum would be a better bet. If you choose your shrubs (like rhodos or roses) you can ask in the plant specific forum for recommended cultivars.

You have a lot of color going on. I'd stick to white flowers or tones of pink or purple that go with the house.

Try www.monrovia.com for shrubs that grow in your area. They have sort by zone and flower color. They will have notes about fragrance in the descriptions. Most of the plants are available at your local garden center.
