? a pendant light? why is he living in the master bedroom? where do you want the light? does he have a room ? If so, don't you think it would be helpful if you posted a pic of the room?

and really, 2 year olds don't give a fig about lighting. what will delight him is mom getting on the floor with him and playing trains. decorating the room is really for you.

bedrooms often don't have overhead lights. you have floor lamps and lamps for nightstands, and changing areas etc.

so there are rarely any overhead lights for them.

The master bedroom *is* his room (our room is a non master that gets more sun). The pendant light would be in the middle of the room. I can try to snap a picture when I get the chance, but right now I am holding my daughter for a nap, and later I will likely be busy on the floor with him playing trains.

I agree that he doesn't care about decorating, but since we have decided that we do want more light in there, we would prefer to spend our money on something that we can all enjoy, including and especially him.

All the other bedrooms except the master have ceiling lights, and I find that localized lighting just never makes me feel I have enough light.

Here are the pictures of his room. As you can see, we haven't done any decorating at all, so there is nothing to coordinate with. (The black bags are temporary until we get blackout shades or drapes put in.

I haven't verified this, but I was hoping this plastic panel was covering the electrical wiring for a ceiling light.

This particular light probably falls under the break-the-bank category and is almost certainly out of our budget, but we're also very interested in lights that aren't necessarily designed for children but that children (and adults) would appreciate.

I'm very sorry but before you even think of delighting him with a light, please spend money on a decent window treatment. The delight of a light will last five minutes. For everyone, you included. In fact, blackout is not necessary. .....and once "taught" they need blackness to sleep, it becomes a lifetime of same. Let some LIGHT AND AIR in there. Put some glow in the dark sun, moon and stars on the ceiling for "night time delight". An easy stick up project............

You're talking pendants, and Beth gave you some cute ones above, but I think a ceiling light should give enough light to see by -- I'd go simple flushmount and get the delight from some colorful posters instead.
