Reducing need for repotting/rootbound?

last modified: 9 years ago

I was reading the Foliage Pro advertisement, and they make the claim that using FP, plants will not become rootbound (see bottom of post for quotes).

I'm not sure if this is an exaggeration or flat out false claim.

Are there ways to reduce plants becoming rootbound (and by corollary, reduce the interval between repotting/root pruning)?

Does using RootMaker containers, fabric containers, etc. change the need for repotting/root pruning?

Main reason i'm asking is because i have large (25-45g) containers for fruiting subtropical fruit trees. Would prefer to not have to repot them every year mainly because of the size.

Reduces the Need to Transplant—Plants will not become
rootbound. Foliage-Pro® brings balanced quantities of all
the minerals which a plant needs directly to its roots, rather
than forcing the plant to grow an extensive root system
futilely searching for essential minerals which ordinary
fertilizers and soilless media lack.
