MP, thanks, yep earaches and toothaches are a pain, aren't they? I just need some sleep and some rest, I'll be good!
Ang, the blue one first, just watch the back pillows :))
Bobbi, that is the one on sale and Jayme also mention the back pillows. But as I said will go feel first.
I posted in dilemma, just have to upload the pictures of my room.
    Excellent!
    wow....from 5 months ago...that's insane. and stupid! :(

i like the axis angela...pretty timeless in design and it looks comfy! didn't look at the other one though.
That is the one that I like also and it is on sale and the person on the chat line says that they are getting rid of this brand for a new one so that is why it is on sale.

    Hi-ya!
I hope everyone had a good weekend... Just got back from the hardware store... Going to stain my bambo funiture that is on my patio... It's just a table & chairs set.... I wanted it darker, and also wanted a redish color because the new cushions I am making are a tropical print with some red flowers... kind of like this but the background is black...
Patty, I love that fabric! Is it Home Depot? I think I saw one like that online. Show us pics of the bamboo when you're done, I didn't know you could stain bamboo!
I decided to go take a picture of it... That one is too small..
    No, don't think it's home depot... I bought a bolt from e-bay...
Nice! You're making the cushion covers yourself?
Well, the furniture wasn't put away last year, even tho it's on the covered patio it got pretty weathered... I hope you can stain it... LoL.... Yes, the one on the left is already made... 3 more to go...
I think if you clean it well, maybe with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, you should be ok. Love the fabric!
Thank You... I liked it... I think I need to sand it a bit as well... We will see... I hope it turns out ok...
Well, good afternoon everyone. Looks like you've all been busy today.

I'm tired of my powder room project. Saved on the install and the new light fixture, but then found out we need 8 double rolls not four singles (why is wallpaper so confusing?) so +$ there. I said lets just get it done, I'm tired of thinking about it!

Considering new furniture myself for the great room, and moving the current stuff to the currently empty basement. This decorating stuff is spiraling out of control (lol)...Sofa is on clearance. Plus two swivel chairs (NOT this fabric) and two ottomans.
Those are nice kimdee.... what kind of fabric for the chairs? Love the couch...
    Nice Kimdee, love that sofa.
patty -- in a perfect world? Something like this:
You want to change the chairs in this fabric kimdee
  • 13 years ago
That would look really good! I love those colors... Wish I could afford new rugs right now... I could change everything in my living room... LoL.... I have decided to paint my curio cabinet black.... Hubby isn't too happy about it, but I think it would make a huge difference...
I think we are going to skip spring this year and go right into summer... Yesterday it was in the high 80's...
Same today... Yay! Now watch it freeze... hahahaha... wouldn't surprise me..

EZ - I'm sorry that you were attacked in that odd posting. I thought that poster was completely out of line...especially when all you did was comment that the comments had not addressed the issue of the original poster.

Your reply was very nice and dignified and I'm sorry that someone decided to be so mean and upset your day. I appreciate all the efforts you put in to help make Houzz a good source of information.

So Ironman 3 was ok Jayme
That's not right, eztia. I'm sorry that happened.

@Jayme -- thanks. I wasn't planning on the new furniture, but I fell in love with that fabric and now I'm pondering... we will see if it works out or not, budget wise. And, I don't know what happened today but it sounds bad and that is just not necessary. People are awful sometimes, especially when they're hiding behind a keyboard.

On another note, my neighbour had his air conditioner installed. The only place it could go was right beside my deck/patio, I mean right there. He felt terrible about it, and so he ordered the quietest one he could... very considerate - I can barely hear it. So there ARE good neighbours out there. I wish AVS's neighbours had been so thoughtful to her.

While Angela is deciding how to fix up her bedroom, I think I will just pretend. I have picked two of my favorite bedroom photos from Houzz. One indoor, and one on a screened in sleeping porch. Now, I just have to decide which one to sleep in first...

Thank you, eztia. I'm fortunate to have good neighbours on both sides of me. J&L on the other side adore my dog and feed her cookies every chance they get. And she brings me homemade bread -- I think she worries I'm starving to death or something!

Kimdee - I'm glad you have a considerate neighbor. My neighbor put in a central air unit years ago and it has an extremely noisy compressor which sits on the side facing my bedroom window,. Plus, she runs that ac 24 hours a day whenever the temperature gets above the mid 70s. I wait all year for it to get warm enough that I can open my windows and whenever I do, it seems like I spend all the time listening to that blasted air conditioner.

I don't have central air, so having to put up with all the noise pollution and getting no benefit is extremely annoying.

Regarding dysfunctional families: My step-family regularly airs their dirty laundry on Facebook. It's gross. And it's happening right now. Ick.
Facebook is how we found out my husband's Grandmother passed away! So thoughtless!!
    Oh wow Jayme, that sucks.

Bowing out and saying goodnight all...

ez, people like that appear out of now where. Just think of what that person's life must be like? What kind of person attacks people for no reason? Angry, insecure and needs to hide...be anonymous. How absolutely pathetic. That doesn't mean that person should get away with it. We need to speak up once in awhile. You did a good job. Deborah did not deserve that. Nor did you and the others. You go, girl. Save your tears for someone deserving of them.

Hi anyone who can chime in on a universal design question please: tried to bump twice
    https://www.houzz.com/discussions/bathroom-remodel-dsvw-vd~467406
  • 13 years ago
@linda have you tried masking that terrible AC noise? a large water fountain and a a few small ones, even simple containers with large, loud bubblers. chimes. outdoor speakers for a constant background of classical or jazz....
also, it seems like there must be some sort of 'quieting wraps' for loud AC units? dunno, just guessing. i'd do some research and suggest to neighbor they get one.

i didn't see the attack posts mentioned above. there's no need for anyone to be rude on this site. hope it doesn't discourage good people from posting.

There are 'sound blankets' for air conditioners. They are installed inside the condenser unit and wrap around the compressor. It helps quite a bit and they're not expensive.
