Ugly basement bathroom- help!

I would love your advice on turning this very ugly basement bathroom into a small spa-like bathroom.

Currently, the floor is old, peeling linoleum that is freezing on the feet, and the shower is a small space with metal doors and an old insert.

There is a spot for shelving beside the shower that can be redone. I do like a storage feature even though I know it makes the shower space smaller.

There is also a corner 'bump in' into the bathroom by the toilet and shower due to the laundry room right next to it.

Would love any pictures and ideas to help turn this sad bathroom around. Thank you!

27" isn't even code compliant. You need to use all of that space there for the shower. As in gut the entire space and start over.

Hey Lea!

Without fully seeing the room--- my suggest would be:

-use light airy colours to brighten the room (assuming no windows)-- light blues, creams, whites, beiges etc.

-add a large mirror to create the illusion of space

-take out the shower and add a glass shower (remove the wall closest to the shelving if it is not a support) This will allow for a bigger shower.

-make the vanity go all the way to the wall (allows for more counter space) and add a granite or quartz countertop-- there are tons of options out there to choose from. It also adds value to your home and is easy to maintain.

-I suggest to put a vessel sink in the bathroom-- it's trendy and adds elegance to the vanity
