Good question. Dust and debris gets into my drawers even though they are not left open. I have basic cleanable plastic. My one peeve is that containers never fit the drawer completely. There is always some space for small items to slip under/between.

In our experience, plastic is easier to clean and is more durable than bamboo. At one time, we provided custom bamboo drawer inserts, but after being disappointed with bamboo's longevity (it tends to nick and peel with use), we stopped offering it as a material option. We currently offer acrylic and maple options.
