If you can't find one at Hobby Lobby, you try a wallpaper department/store. Look for a seam roller.

I use a wooden stick for pressing paper piecing. I learned that trick in a class with George Siciliano. He makes foundation pieced miniatures with a gazillion tiny pieces, and if you press all those pieces over and over with heat the fabric gets shiny.

I've got an old wallpaper seam roller down the basement. I'll have to dig it out.

I just ordered a roller using a gift certificate I won in the Fab Shop Hop. Mine is the Clover brand. I saw a demo at my LQS too. I hope it arrives soon!

Linda, you're gonna love it! As soon as they showed it to us I said "I've got to get one of those" It's only one inch wide, don't know how wide the ones they are referring to above for wallpaper but I'm sure they would work if not to big and clumsy.

I'm chuckling away here.......I have a Pampered Chef rolling pin.....dug it out and used it instead of pressing. lol Not sure I'll keep doing it, but it worked pretty good.

I wonder how many things there are at Lowes we could be using but don't have the creativity to realize it. I use those shop wood clamps to hold the layers on the table when I sandwich the quilt. I just wish I could figure out how to rig something up to do it automatically - like slip all the ends into something like a giant roller and crank it out all even but then could be all folded down into a small packet and shoved in the closet! LOL! If I could I'd make a billion dollars. I've asked Hubby to think about it but he won't.

Sounds like something similar to a pool cover roller. ☺

Omg...it's so nice to read this post and know I'm not the only one who thinks up, what others may consider crazy, ideas! Yes my wallpaper roller works fine, my el cheapo 4" paint brush is great to clean my machine from fabric dust bunnies, the larger clover clips are great for closures of snack bags, chop sticks work great for turning fabric tubes...I know there's more ... What other idea are out there?
