My black raspberries started ripening this week which is great. But my apache blackberries are in their 3rd year and aren't doing so well. Rabbits got to them over the winter and destroyed about 90% of the canes. This year the primocanes came up strong but one snapped off during a windy day and another seems stuck at about 3 foot tall and isn't getting any bigger...

In the meantime across the Atlantic, raspberry season has begun and looks like a bumper year. I let Autumn bliss double cropping this year and I'm harvesting a pound every couple of days, and the fruit is huge. The primocanes on this are 7' tall and stating to bud too. Fall gold's primocanes are 6' tall with no signs of budding yet, with just a few tiny berries on some of the floricanes I left. Golden Everest raspberry has primocanes of 4/5' and again a few good size round berries from last year growth. Black jewel black raspberry is fruiting for the first time since I planted it in winter 2015, the berries are tiny and maybe need another few weeks to ripen. Polka which I planted last winter is growing quite slowly, not even 3' tall as of now, I might get some fruit this fall though. Shortcake raspberry is also producing for the first time since winter 2015, berries are much smaller than I expected. My early blackberry won't start ripening for at least another month, and the late variety well in to august and September. I have one of the primocanes Arkansas breed , named Reuben over here which is way too late and so far has never been able to ripen more than a couple of berries, this year I am waiting for the floricane 'crop, it has a few so hopefully they will ripen and taste good too, otherwise it get trashed, I had it for 3 years already.
