Should I remove the figs the first year?

I recently got a fig tree that is almost 6 ft tall from the nursery and planted it. It looks super healthy (black mission) but since it's still fairly young it's just mostly in the shape of one main trunk going up and some small ones branching out but it's already put out at least 8-10 little figs. I keep hearing that I should pick off all the fruits the first year I plant a fruit tree to allow for the roots to develop fully. But if the tree is already 6 feet tall, is that still the case?? Same question goes for my jujube that's 7 foot tall and Persimmon tree that's also about 7 feet tall...first year in the ground but do I pick it all off?
