P. horombense (rot?)

Hi. It's winter now in Melbourne and this is its first winter under my care. A few weeks back its lower leaves started yellowing, browning and eventually turned crisp and i then pinched them off. This continues upwards towards the top leaves. Right now, only the top 3 leaves remain all green.

Today I noticed that when the stem is gently pressed in between the thorns, the feeling is a little squishier than before, in summer or autumn. Like pressing into the ball of your thumb when holding a tight fist. It reminds me of my adenium obesum before it rotted inside out so I'm a little concerned.

The roots are healthy though... many, short and white coloured. Not mushy. Soil had been dry for the last 3 weeks.

Are we still healthy?
