One trade off of having the charm of an older home is figuring out how to live with its quirks. In this room, it's the number of doors restricting furniture placement. With the two doors flanking the bed, I was wondering how important symmetry is (I know the placement of the sconce is a little weird, but that can be changed depending on your responses. Also, I'm willing to replace it - any suggestions for that would be fantastic) in terms of bedside tables.

There's very little room to work with, as the distance between the doors is a mere 73 1/2 inches, with 4 - 5" of trim in the casing, between the two closet doors. The bed is 64.5" wide. Given that I have 9" of space, not including the trim, for a bedside table, would it look odd to only have one? (Only one person will be sleeping in this room, so it's not an issue of functionality.) If the bed were centered on that wall, that would leave very little room for placing a glass of water, a book, and alarm clock, or whatever the bedside needs happen to be, so not having a bedside table at all is not an option.

I thought round table might be less intrusive, and could look okay extending further out, a little past the trim.

What suggestions would you have for bedside tables in this space?
