Shiplap on ceiling...flat or semi-gloss and why

Have a bit of shiplap on my breakfast room ceiling. I am thinking of painting it flat white, as I don't particularly care for semigloss on the ceiling (I think). Should I paint it flat or semi-gloss, and please tell me why you would choose one or the other.

    I tend to use satin on ceilings - just a bit of a glow rather than shine.
