White might be bland, I agree what do you like? Greys/browns/greens? I don't think I would paint the brick different as the house does not have enough height to carry it off?

If you go to high contrast between brick and siding, you will lose the modern feel that it has now - since your brick wainscot jumps higher and lower, it will really cut it up. The gray allover is what helps this old cottage ranch look like an atomic ranch - modern and cool. Keep the gray allover and it will be less expensive to paint, too.

What you could do if you want to play with increasing the modern feel, is paint the bump out at the front door - siding and brick front and sides, a navy and trim all the windows navy - those would both work with a contrast with the orange front door. Since your foliage is bright purple pink, you might instead of orange, head to a coral tone - the red orange will compliment the red-blue better than the pure orange would. Or, if you could live with a statement door inspired by your flowering bushes, you could do the bump in a mid-tone gray, go for a plum door like sw kirsch red and take all the trim to a deep plum like sw wild current. That would be amazing with your foliage, and you could bump it up further by planting some abelia grandifolia along your foundation line in front, and some bronze flax flanking the entry to the walk -

Also, I can't see your front door in this photo, but you may fall in love like many do with the light kits or the doors from crestviewdoors.com - if you have a plain door they sell modern light kits to turn it into a modern marvel, or buy a whole door from them.

Thank you so much! I like your suggestion to keep the brick and siding the same color since the house is not very tall. I also like the idea of choosing a door color that will work with the rhododendrons - plum would be beautiful. I do have the original 3-lite door from 1953. A new mid mod lite fixture is also a must. And thanks for the color names - very helpful!!
