Leek Scapes

I am growing leeks for the first time this year. Should I harvest the scapes or leave them on? Will leaving them on influence the size of the leeks? Thanks.

Pull the ones that bolt and use them. The inside of the leek will become tough and fibrous where the scape is.

The whole thing. The leek will deteriorate once it starts to flower. Reading between the lines it sounds as if your leeks were sown this year? In which case they are bolting prematurely. Can you show some pictures?
