Depends on the granite. That is a very light granite in that photo, perhaps Imperial White, Kashmir White or similar; those tend to be the most absorptive granites and most prone to staining. Not all granites are like that, and most won't stain from a soap bottle.

This whole thread is why I have a soap dispenser in my counter. Even the pretty bottle posted above can get unsightly when much of the soap is used, and there's just a couple inches of soap left. The bottle itself can get drips and be gummy. Also when the bottle just has a few inches left, they tend to tip on their sides easily.

It doesn't affect my darker granite.

I just sat it up there for a photo, but I have a stainless strainer that fits on the recessed ledge of my sink, so I keep it there.

At some point in time the bottle will get empty. ;-)
