Please help with pillow colors!

I really would like to keep this room as neutral as possible. I now regret the curtains that I just recently bought. I like the color, but now I wish that I would have just bought white crisp curtains. For now these will have to do. I love my lazy boy sofa, it's charcoal gray and my floors are obviously dark brown. I would like to know if you guys think that these pillows would lighten the space some. Should I do cream or bright white toss pillows? I will eventually get white curtains but I want the pillows to work with what I've got. I don't want crazy patterns and colors.

If you plan to keep the pillows for some time. I personally would lean away from Ikat and the bold chevron and similar. As beautiful as they are, they are a trend.

Your sectional is dark gray or dark brown?

    It's a charcoal gray

I would suggest some white pillows, love the idea of the geometric print pillows too for added contrast! Start playing with textures of the pillows, ex fur, knit, blend. Looks like you're off to a good start!

Am I safe with keeping the 2 velvet gray pillows and buying either cream or white pillows?

They don't appear to be close in shade with the sofa why not, it will help lighten up the sofa a bit. I like to break them up on each end of the sofa to ensure it from looking too "uniform" Here's something similar you can use for inspo or a guide.

I wouldn't worry about pillows becoming out of fashion. They're not permanent fixtures and can be changed with season, mood or when they're no longer "in".

Tying the pillows to the curtains isn't a bad move. Your room could stand some color and as long as you have the aqua you can't ignore it.

Brown it appears.... ? You want to mix in some teal I take it.... think textures and longevity unless you prefer to buy inexpensive pillows and repurpose and change them up... I'd go with a pretty teal in a nubby linen or velvet then find a print with cream and cream Mongolian for textures.

White pillows won't add anything to finish the room.

The curtains colours might be a blessing in disguise as, just get cushion the same colour as curtain, and cream ones too. Getting ones with designs on as above would work out very nicely also.

Cream or white you can do... you just need a little color... I've paired with cream in all...

I recommended avoiding Ikats and chevrons as they tend to (not always) are bright and are great for Spring and Summer. If you have the money to switch pillows out by seasons which is GREAT to make a new update ea. season then I say go for that!

I simply selected a more subtle and transitional yet still in keeping with the room and pulling the curtains in.

Target has some great pillows for a Spring Summer look... These are all from an online site... if you want to know the name of any, please let me know. They are all still reasonably priced if you want to switch them around seasonally as well.

I'd lean cream IMO if you want to add some.... Mongolian in Cream would give some dimension and texture.

Try this vendor at etsy.. Buy her white pillow in any size with just a hint of the window fabric (which I happen to like in your room…don’t stack panels back so tightly) for trim on the pillow.

I'm not seeing stark white Judy... nice border I love it... yet the area rug is cream and... I tried some whites and... yet, that's why so many of us give our opinions and the OP is helped by them.... if we all thought the same then we wouldn't help the OP's... Respect your opinion Judy as always!

Thanks, Porter, ‘cause my monitor shows the rug as white. Will take the recommendation back, B J, bright white would not work with the rug.

I would suggest matching the pillows with the curtains, but also throwing in some neutral colors as well. Giving the room variety and diversity.

I think White pillows would look awesome and really brighten the room or even throwing in some pattern pillows to tie into the current curtains you have now. Good luck!!!

Why go neutral on pillows? This is the one item that is disposable in the room! Add some fun textures and bolder colors so that the room feels alive. I like the idea of one/two x-large furry pillow(s) and then get some heavy bold textures that are 18x18. The pillows should add an unexpected surprise to the room so throw in some color.

This is what made me wish that I would have bought white curtains and light neutral pillows. Especially now seeing all of these bloggers with all white and neutral everything! I just love this!
