I think they are both very nice, but my choice is the Everest. I prefer more gray tones, and really think it pops against your cabinets. Good luck. Show us photos when you're done please!

Thanks for the help! I also tend to prefer the Everest, but think the Aria might go with the rest of our home a little better, which tends towards some "warmer" tones. Not sure how we'll end up going. I'm also hoping to view full slabs before making a final decision.

You don't want to be too warm all over... the floor and the left granite kind of appear bland especially if it's a larger kitchen. However, you can see your whole surrounding area and we (I) can't!

The one on the right carries the whiteness of the cabinets IMO. I prefer that look!

CCM Countertop - I totally agree with you. So much so in fact, that I'm really second-guessing my decision to go with such "true" white cabinets considering we have other creamier/blander elements in our home (like the fireplace pictured).

The fireplace appears gray in tone? Why don't you take a photo of a room that joins the kitchen and post. I think you are going way too warm with the floors and the sample to the left (granite)... However, we can only see sample photos and a piece of the fireplace.

Above shows the hallway that is on the other side of the kitchen. This paint is more of a tan/khaki and is throughout the rest of the home (except bedrooms/bathrooms).

And the above is (close) to our new layout. The opening on the right is the hallway opening pictured directly above (the doorway is being widened with the renovation) and the opening on the bottom left is into the dining/living room. The fireplace is on the lower right.

I have a sample of the Aria in our showroom, and looking at it in person, I think it would work well with your cabinets, too. Unfortunately, we do not have a sample of Everest. Are you set on the LG Hausys Viatera brand? There are many other products and choices out there!

No, not set on that brand in particular. I had been previously thinking I liked Cambria Bellingham best, but then decided it was a little darker than I wanted (and not such a fan of their larger resin deposits/blobs which sometimes show up). I'm definitely open to other suggestions. I'm basically looking for something with some movement, something that will go okay with the combination of colors already in my home, and not looking for a marble look alike, per se.

That's interesting - Bellingham, Berwyn, or New Quay Cambria was going to be my suggestions for you to take a look at!

Haha, yes, I was convinced I would go Cambria up until very recently. The other thing that turned me away a little is the inability to look at the actual slab to be used on our project.

Bellingham is pretty yet from what I have seen personally has more black tones in it, the pieces I've seen of Berwyn are not as pretty... However, I still prefer the second option you posted. I'm not familiar with New Quay in person.

Your furniture is dark so I would not worry about trying to stay, "all warm"... given that I wish you the best of luck and please post your final job!!

I got stuck at work, but my husband was able to look at slabs of the Aria and Everest today. Unfortunately, the cabinet door samples were in my car (I had been intending to go as well - hopefully another day).

I think either would be very nice with white cabinets - our showroom sample of the Aria looks way whiter & lighter in reality and I have a feeling that these photos just don't give the entire scope of the color. If you want a slightly softer look, I would probably lean toward it.

The Aria in your latest photo appears less warm which I like for your space.. not sure what it is now and confused by the new Aria pic??? I like that it has less movement in this last photo (it seems) and appears to lean more white. As CCM mentions above their showroom sample is lighter... If so, I'd choose Aria and would not have prior as it leaned so creamy warm. Given your floors are warm and your furnishings darker (table, mirror, mantle, fireplace as it appears is not warm, fireplace surround, picture frames)..... and not sure what else is in that area?

Yes, there are so many variables it seems impossible to make a "perfect" decision - only a small sample size within our home (with our lighting and elements) vs the full slab view but outside of our environment (different lighting, etc.).

CCM Countertop - Question for you: Since you have the aria in your showroom, do you feel it does well with "bright" or "true" white cabinets?

One more thought I had...perhaps I can get away with a mix of white, cream, and gray tones (between the cabinets, aria, and fireplace) if I can find a backsplash that includes both white and cream. I had been thinking of plain white subway tile but now I'm thinking something with more of a blend (but not busy) might help to pull the white cabinets and aria together.

I think this may be your answer, to find a backsplash that pulls all your colors and tones together. Especially if you like what's going on in the individual pieces. There are some truly amazing backsplashes out there, just be prepared to do a lot of looking. Take a sample of all your major players, i.e. Countertops, cabinets, flooring, paint samples, etc. I'm sure you will find something stunning that makes it all work, good luck!

I do not see that it has much "true white" in it after holding a sample of white Formica up to it. It would probably come off as more beige-toned on a pure white set of cabinets.

Thnanks, CCM Countertop. I know this is a subjective question, but do you think that contrast between the beige-tone and white cabinets would look nice or like someone didn't bother to match the counter to the cabinets? :)

It would probably look great if you use the right backsplash to tie it all together. Of the first two colors you selected, I believe I still prefer the Everest, though!

OK, so I've setted on going with the LG Aria. Now I'm looking at backsplash samples, I think I may have found something that will pull everything together. It's a marble that is mostly white, but also has some creams, beige, and grays.

Thoughts?

IMO, you're going too white with everything. Something needs to add contrast. I suggest that you consider something more in the range of:

Go with the darkest selection that pleases your eye. You were talking about Cambria Bellingham, I'm suggesting a color range more like Castell. Here's a kitchen we did with white shaker, white subway tile, dark tops.

Which counter has more sparkle? I'm considering using one of those also. Which one is lighter overall?

Hi amorreale - When looking at the two slabs, I thought the Aria *might* have a little less sparkle, but couldn't tell for sure whether that was the case - the difference may have been due to lighting. We were (personally) trying to avoid a lot of sparkle as we felt that was a component of a lot of quartz designs that seemed a little "artificial". These slabs definitely have less sparkle than a lot of the comparable Cambria designs. As far as which slab is lighter overall, I would definitely say the Aria is the lighter of the two.

If anyone is still out there.....

I'm starting to second guess my plan to extend oak flooring into the kitchen - mostly because of the smell/VOC potential associated with finishing the floors and having two small children in the household (being out of the home for more than a couple of days is really not an option). I know we could go with a water-based finish, but that really wouldn't match the rest of the home. So.......

Now I'm reconsidering whether we should go with tile and I'm looking for suggestions on what would look nice with the rest of our colors (the Aria countertop and bright white cabinets). Ideas???

Flooring is supposed to go in early next week, so I need to think through this quickly.

just installed Viatera Everest with white subway tile and white grout. it's gorgeous! the last photo is a close up of the seam. can't even see it. it does read grey but the flecks of glass reflect the light so it is bright.

M Piliero - The marble backsplash in your pic is beautiful. Any chance you can share the brand and name?? We’re going with Aria counters and have warm stained maple cabinets so this backsplash might tie it all to Henry.

I’m sorry, I didn’t end up going with that backsplash so don’t have the details. It was either from Cancos tile or Home Depot, but it was several years ago now.
