Steam function on Duet

Probably talked about this before LOL...this steam function has me questioning why its even on this Duet 95. If I choose add steam whatever cycle I'm using completes its cycle, goes thru drain than steams after water was drained...I've read about other washers where the steam function boosts the water temp...no wash water left in mine to boost...is this how this cycle is supposed to operate?

Hi Mama! I had steam on my Electrolux sets and my Kenmore Elite set. Steam washer and dryer. GIMMICK, GIMMICK.

It was useless on all my machines. No steam on my Miele W&D...and I could not be happier!

That's what the Electrolux does. It will drain fully and if memory serves me correctly does a slow spin. Fills with just enough water to cover the heating element, then tumbles for 20 minutes. Then it will add cold water and use it for the first rinse (hence the warm rinse).

Yes, that's how it's supposed to work. You're being too skeptical and OCD. It's sequence is counter-intuitive as to what one would think is supposed to happen. Yes, I thought that the first time I used it. The first few generations of Duets (and at the time corresponding Kenmores) the sanitize cycles actually heated the water all the way to 153 degrees. Contrary to what all the marketing hoopla leads one to believe, the fact of the matter is steam is more energy efficient means to get to higher temperatures without heating water. When I select Sanitize was temp, it heats the water to a fairly high temperature, but it's no 153 degrees I have no doubt. I don't remember if I used Sanitize wash temp or steam for stains first. But I was dumbfounded when I used for the first time Sanitize, that it goes through this steam heating phase. There is still detergent laden water in the clothes, sufficient enough that with steam raising the internal environment temperature of the wash drum, it still is able to help what detergent is left in the garments. I use my Allergene cycle with Sanitizer wash temp and steam for stains on my kitchen "wash cloths" as well as terry dinner napkins. This stuff will sit for up to 2 months before accumulate enough for a load. All I do is use an appropriate dose of Tide with bleach powder for the load size. Everything comes out immaculate and stain free. I once had a pair of light-colored kaki pants that had blood on them sit for over a week. I washed all my similar slacks together on Normal Casual with hot water and steam for stains and the same Tide Powdere. Even I was amazed the blood stain was completely gone. As for my model, the steam function allows the machine to get to the appropriate temps that perform very well. I've never used prewash or presoak. Hugs mamaP

    Thanks kids.

I just wondered because I seen some people use steam to boost the wash water. Lol...

Thank you all much.....Boba I'm a master at being OCD...haha...Hugs back at ya.
