Most PM resistant varieties are relatively new hybrids. I have had no problems when using varieties listed with high resistance to PM. DM on cucumbers are a work in progress, still gives me problems when conditions are right.

County Fair seems to get the most positive reviews. The search will pull up all the discussions about it if interested. But as farmerdill said, it is the conditions that make all the difference rather than the variety. Resistance really only means it can tolerate it for longer, not that it won't get it.

Do you use any preventative fungicides since you apparently have a chronic problem with it?

Thanks Dave. I've only treated it after symptoms appear. Last year I sprayed with milk solution and that just made them stink.. this year i started spraying with safer's garden defender which is just Sulphur I think. 10 days ago and again 2 days ago but it's still spreading pretty quickly. Next year should I start spraying in early July before any symptoms? I will try to get Serenade but not sure where to get it in Canada. Maybe directly from Bayer.. I was also thinking could misting them in the morning help since PM likes dry weather? This is the plants, they are producing well still but sure don't look very good..

All fungicides are preventative only, not cures. Once the plant is infected the most they can do is slow it down a bit. They work by preventing the spores from attaching to the leaf surfaces. So for best results the recommendation, when one has a known issue, to a regular spraying program from the day of plant out.

As for misting the leaves - it only encourages other diseases and has little benefit when PM is already present.
