How high is the counter? The chair look like they are regular height.

    The standard is 36" for counter height. There is a growing trend to lower the bar to counter height instead of the 42" bar height. It's more "universal" and makes it easier for people with physical limitations to get on and off the stools.

    Love this island - no need for a breakfast nook or bar stools where you constantly bang your knees. Are there drawers/cabinets on the far side of the island?

    Yes - I love it, too. I like to keep the island top all at one height - it gives you more work space and room for serving. I think it also makes the kitchen feel more spacious.

    How do you think this will look if we shrink it to 5'3 across,and 5 feet long? That's the space I will have leaving 48 inches around it from the cabinets and refrigerator to get chairs in there! love this island!
