Since we don't make these decisions every day it's natural to be concerned. Your kitchen is going to look beautiful and all these labor pains will soon be forgotten.

You're not the only one! I think it's out of the desire for things to be perfect the first time, even when you don't know how to make them that way - speaking from personal experience. That's why you sometimes need to lean on the professionals who do this day-in and day-out. ;)

I think it is natural to second-guess or even get buyer's remorse for a while, but then it usually disappears.

Yes! I think it's because so many things with remodeling are hard to visualize from a sample. So once it's in, no matter how good it looks, it's easy to imagine that another option could look better.

Also I think I stare at things after they're installed, and if you stare at anything long enough, it starts to look weird.

No. I did a full scale cardboard box layout. Then we noticed where changes were needed. After that no problem. Other choices always need the correct amount of research. . . .But live with something for a long while and you'll learn what you can improve next time. . .

I think that many of us suffer from this. I overthink and over research some things to death. Then I get tired and start making snap decisions on other things because I am over it. I second guess both of these things, and almost every time I am happy at the end.

it's normal to second guess at this stage..you don't see the whole picture yet. you see just an element of it.

if for example I was shown a butterfly's leg only..closely, under the microscope..let me tell you I'd doubt very much the rest too...at first

Absolutely!!! I recent did a kitchen facelift with new countertops, backsplash, pendants, and faucet. The countertops were the first to go in and that night, I tossed and turned, getting up several times to stare at the countertops, convinced I'd made a TERRIBLE mistake. I went from a dark, speckled brown quartz to a light marble-looking quartz, and I think the difference was just shocking. I tell you, I was sick about it. And now that the whole thing is done, I LOVE it. The countertops are beautiful. For me, it's like the second guessing is an illness and I just have to ride it out and get to the other side.

You guys are great! I finally got some sleep the last couple of nights. We've been living in our 5th wheel trailer for 4 months and I'm just about ready to climb the walls. I can't wait for the weekend, then there won't be strangers in my house and I can walk around freely. The kitchen is part of a 12' x 52' addition to our house and I'm pretty much over the whole thing. The contractor told me yesterday that we're ready for the granite, so maybe there is a light at the end of this tunnel. Thanks for the encouragement! I needed it!
