That's a great use of found and scrap fabric, it looks very "summery" to me. I can't remember which TV quilting program it was on, but one of them they said recently that gingham is back "in" now. I have very little of it, used to use it a lot back in the day when I first started quilting - the mid-80's. I'll have to look through my recently sorted and color-coded stash. I have a bunch of polka dots, which I've used infrequently in the past but I better find something to do with it. I was gifted recently with a bunch of fabrics and there were a lot of polka dots and stripes in it. I like to use either stripes or plaids or checks to make bindings, especially stripes.

Karen, I think your quilt is absolutely lovely. I love the colors. Could you please tell me what batting you used? It looks like you stitched in the ditch? I love the puffy effect your technique gave this quilt.

Lois, I don't recall the brand of batting, but quite likely it was poly. Yes, it was higher loft & what I like to think of as pouffier. Here's a shot of the back confirming your sense of poufy.

No particular reason, was more what I had on hand. But I have sometimes felt the cotton batts I've used recently have seemed so thin. Sometimes I miss pouffy, from when I first started quilting 20 yrs ago.

Yes, I mostly stitched in the ditch, cause w/interesting & varied fabrics like these I wish to let them be the stars, not have quilting or stitching compete w/ that.

It's somewhat pieced together this batt, maybe a quarter of something else, but I think a different weight of all poly batting.

I don't recall the batting's instructions re: how frequently to quilt, but this ended up w/ stitching as much as 5" apart.

PS: hasn't been washed yet, the dryer will likely make it look even pouffier.

Oh ,,, let me just say another milestone, this quilt has my first continuous binding & my first mitered corners. I watched Jenny Doan MSQ, tute on this & voila, it came put great, I'm delighted (& proud)!

I like the color combination and the layout of the D9P. It looks like it would be very soft and cuddly.
