I might swap the oven and refrigerator. Change the door to the pantry and add a pantry cabinet in the kitchen. You will gain storage and that wall will look better with cabinets instead of a door and hall.

Make cabinets both sides of cooktop the same.

If you are designing the house yourself, you might post the plan in the home building forum. Just be prepared for some honest, direct feedback.

I'm wondering if it will be possible to stand at the fridge and open the doors if someone is doing dishes at the sink and the dishwasher door is open? If you keep the fridge there, you should consider getting a counter-depth fridge. I have one and I love it. It looks better and I find I don't waste as much food (you know, the food that we forget about in the back of the fridge).

I was thinking the same as PPF regarding the pantry. The doorway into the pantry is wasted space.

As you enter from the garage, consider switching to a right-hand door, so your view is of the mudroom cubbies instead of laundry machines. (If you have the space, I'd make the laundry its own room!) If you do swap the hinge, be sure to account for space for light switches.

Is this your only dining space? At 20x9, it is quite narrow. I would recommend a table no wider than 36" there.

I loathe a laundry combined with mud entry, always a mess and dumping ground!! . Most frequent coming and going is thru this entry, and it is usually under spaced for the traffic. ! Pantry/food storage need not be walk in to be functional. Two of the three feet is just walk space. I'd give separation to that function and a cleaner environment than dust from the garage entry. Pardon the guickie sketch. It's easy to stack a front load w/d set with a simple stack kit. ( foldiing, cabinets etc opposite end from w/d .

I agree with everything PPF said. You don't want the fridge door to swing open into the space occupied at the sink. Also, I wouldn't have those upper cabinets staggered at different heights. Take them to the ceiling if the ceiling height allows it. A certified kitchen designer would be so worth it for your new build. I see so many posts on Houzz for issues that wouldn't exist if a pro was used in the first place.
