What is jarring is the white trim on the roof line and the windows. Also the black trellis -like posts need to go. Yes, a comprehensive landscape design is critical here.

You can paint vinyl, but prep, prep prep!!! DIY instructions on the web. Agree about replacing the wrought iron supports with square columns. If keeping the roof for a while, think about cedar for the posts. Stain to look natural or paint.

I think this approach would work the best for your home. Notice how the elements are almost monochromatic. Then there are the subtle focal points like color of the railings and the soft accent color on the front door!

Hi, luv the house. If you are not going mid century...then maybe some nice reclaimed wood where the red is, and along peak of roof, and roof line, following with beefy Y wood pillars on porch, and maybe same wood on the decorative well. Paint the door a color that makes you smile. Move the large tree to the side yard to block the view of satellite on roof, and yes grasses along the front in half moon shape encompassing the tree. HI -- Love your house and that tree is beautiful . If the roots are not harming the foundation of the house then the tree could stay . House color look at Manchester Tan by Benjamin Moore paints or a tone darker ... might work . If and when you change the roof go with a darker textured grey . How about a random grove of white bark trees with no mow grass and natural meadow flowers ... then you wont need to mow or only a couple of times over the summer . Mass plantings of fountain grass and mass plantings of day lilies for the foundation area.

Great house! If the roof will be replaced then you can paint the house any color you like. Is it brick? Paint it! If it's siding replace it or paint it. There is a Sherwin Williams siding paint now. If you need a quick fix for now paint the red area a dark muddy greenish brown and a light color same as rest of the house on all other trim and garage door. A black door would look good! Very Martha Stewart! Our ranch just painted is that scheme, same as yours! Can't take a picture it's dark out now!

Please, please don't remove the tree if there are any baby birds in nests. Wait until they are able to fly!!

I'd wait a year before deciding on removing the tree. Depending on how your house faces, and your climate, the tree may give you welcome shade, and cool your house for free in the hot weather. Well worth the chore of removing the leaves from the eaves troughs once a year.
