I was researching glass countertops for my kitchen, and everything I read said that they were a great choice. They were super expensive for kitchens, but I think the bathroom ones are less expensive, also bathroom counters would normally be a lot smaller than kitchen counters. I love the look.

I'd probably rather have glass than marble in a bathroom, but chips are virtually unrepairable.

Sue, I have the same question. I have engineered quartz in one bathroom, but I don't love it, so looking for an alternative for the next bathroom to be remodeled.

Tempered glass countertops can spontaneously shatter OCCASIONALLY. It's not common but does happen. The downside to most vessel sinks is they don't have overflows so if you forget the water running and the drain closed, you can flood your bathroom. Hopefully the semi recessed one you are looking at has an overflow hole.

I had Caesarstone Blizzard polished installed on my countertops and shower threshold in my master bathroom two years ago. I had planned to use it for my guest bathroom as well, but now I'm considering MTI engineered stone in a matte finish.

I don't like the engineered quartz because:

1) It looks like plastic -- maybe because I have a lot of natural light from a skylight above the countertops.

2) I don't like the pixelation -- somehow, it always looks artificial to me.

3) Not good with hard water. There are yellow rings around the lavatory faucets and on the threshold under the shower door. After cleaning with a 50% - 50% solution of vinegar and water, it looks better around the faucets, but still yellow on the threshold.

4) Not cheap. I needed two slabs, at $1500 per slab. Fabricator charged $80 PSF for fabrication and installation. And fabricator kept all remnants.
