My favorite and most unique feature in my rather ordinary laundry room is that my D-shaped Corian utility sink, which is very deep and set in a Corian counter top, has a cover, so when it's not needed, I can fold laundry, sort paperwork, unload groceries, etc. on top of the sink. You just have to be careful not to bump the faucet. This arrangement is brilliant and no doubt I saw the idea on the DuPont website 12 years ago when our laundry room was renovated. I loooovvve my reno'd laundry room! Hard to pick just one thing, but I think it is my cat litter pullout hidden behind a curtain under a desk cabinet. Second would be an access door to the back of our Speed Queen stack that gives us a fast way to reach the water shutoffs, and clean our FanTech secondary lint filter. There is a FanTech booster fan in the attic just above it. Do t get me started on my tiny laundry sink, nice counters, or the amazing storage wedged into my tiny, narrow room. Yes, I love to do laundry now. ❤️

My laundry room will be adjacent to the master closet, and I've been thinking about whether it's possible to have an access door or service door so we could see "behind" the washer/dryer. In my mind, I've been thinking it'd be a matter of pulling the clothes off the rod to access the door.

I haven't seen anyone do this -- do you have a picture of your access door?

I can't imagine being able to say that, but one can always hope.

We're actually working on our laundry room right now, but I like that it's a decent size (12x10) with a deep utility sink and lots of cabinets for storage. We just had bead board installed in the laundry room and adjoining half bath.

I came across these photos recently while searching online for storage baskets. I thought this was a nice idea if you just have a small space.

mrspete, some folks here may be tired of my hatch photo, but begging their indulgence, here ya go. I hope never to have a home without one. It's built inside my husband's athletic gear closet. Other than my bi-weekly filter cleanings, or to grab the steamer I store there, this is a room I ordinarily do not enter. LOL. The unitized Speed Queen front loaders weigh, IIRC, 800 pounds. In an emergency, we'd never get them pulled out.

We have designed some beautiful laundry room cabinets over the years. The best advice we can give for creating a functional, pretty laundry room is to design it to fit your individual needs. But for specific ideas, we love these three laundry rooms:

We love the bright, cheerful vibe in this laundry room, as well as the deep farmhouse sink, folding station, rolling laundry carts, and hanging rods. Obviously, the double-stacked washer and dryers are a huge bonus as well.

The counter space in this laundry room is one of the best features of the space, giving you plenty of room to fold laundry. We also love the sink close by the washer, and the ample storage in this space.

While this isn’t a laundry “room” we wanted to point out the benefits of adding a stacked washer and dryer with custom cabinetry built around the appliances. Not only can you easily conceal the washer and dryer with the pull-out front, but the drawers and cabinet offer storage for laundry supplies.

Ultimately, our biggest recommendations for a great laundry room are a folding space (counter space), closed storage, a sink, and drying racks (either a rod or a pull out- it depends on how much you hang to dry).
