I would replace the 2 pictures above the table with a large mirror, which would be a great focal point, expand the space visually and depending on which direction the wall faces, reflect light from outside. Dark-colored lamp shades with gold or silver lining will,give out a nice ambient light without glare. As for the bowl, I think the white filler draws the eye, and is a nice contrast to the table. Perhaps the mirror could be framed to match either the gold or silver-lining of the lamp shades. Should be an economical fix. Keep us updated, and post pics!

To start remove the 2 lamp base you have, the light bulbs are not attractive and the bases are way to large for the size of the table. The artwork seems to match what you have inside the bowls, replacing the artwork with something less dark and going for 1 instead of 2 will make a big difference. As for the wall where the chair is, again replace the artwork with something larger, also re-upholster the chair in a more neutral / light colour. As for the area rug, make sure it flows through the entire area. Keep simple what ever you decide to put inside the bowl, it could be empty - there is no rule that it has to have something in. Yes, take the picture down from the slanted wall and place the two pictures that are currently above the table there. Shop for a large mirror for above the table. Add shades.

Can you post a picture showing the chair area from other angles? Can't tell much about the rug and how that is working.

I would wainscot the bottom half of the wall, paint it white. Go for a nice warm colour on top! Take away all prints. Replace the prints above the console table with a large mirror (circle or rectangle would work). Shades on the lamps but only use one, take away the bowl, replace with framed pictures (three different sizes). Replace the two prints on the far wall with four smaller ones, position on the wall, two on top and two on the bottom. Large modern art work above the tub chair. Take away the baskets under the console table. If you wish to keep the tub chair, replace the fabric on it. Remember to tie the colour in with what ever colour you choose for the wall. Go for a large high pile rug. Good luck!

Appealing entry - just needs a bit of tweaking.

Remove the pictures above the chair and replace with the pictures that are currently above the table. Those black frames just don't work and the semi-gilt frames will carry that metallic look to the adjacent wall.

I agree with Karen Heffernan and think a tall, semi-gilt framed mirror, roughly the same width as that lovely bowl, placed above the table would be very dramatic. I also recommend that you keep the bowl empty, it is very pretty and dramatic on that wooden stand all by itself. (Maybe fill it with something during the Holidays, but that's a whole 'nother discussion!).

What kind of shades do you have for the two lamps? Depending on size and configuration of the shades, I think those lamp bases are fine. Also agree with the dark shades with gilt interior, keeps the light muted but welcoming.

These are all very good ideas I will begin working on them and update picture once completed. Any suggestions on type of mirror? Planning to add shades but not sure if I wanted to keep that lamp base or just get two new lamps. I really like the base and was hoping to find shades that fit the look.
The rug is also getting replaced. Just trying to do a few things at a time.

While I like the idea of a mirror, make sure it isn't directly opposite the door. I always find it disconcerting to come directly into a house while facing myself! In addition, I think maybe having a mirror opposite a door is bad chi? If you're keeping the bowl, then I think maybe two lamps would be too much - too busy looking. We have a single lamp on our entry table - offset to the right. There is one art piece towards center-left and one piece of art on the wall.

That actually why I never put a mirror above that table - chi concerns. Was going to consider changing but you reminded me of my initial issues with a mirror in that space. Maybe just sticking with the suggestion of putting the two pictures closer together would work better.

Try stacking the pictures, one above the other, rather than closer together, and offset.

The single lamp on one side of the table with the bowl on the other with stacked pictures above bowl.

I"d replace the candle sticks with one lamp, the two pictures with one and I'd eliminate the rest of the pictures - it is too busy with all of them and the eye has no place to rest and take account of the surroundings. Entries are for orienting yourself before proceeding into the living space, so give guesst a place to pause and regroup before entering your private space.

Paint the entry a saturated color. Over the console I would replace the two art pieces with either a mirror or a large artwork. In the green chair place a funky decorative pillows (ikat) and a large art piece over the chair. I think the current art pieces are off scale. It's a beautiful space, have fun!

The table, the two lamps (with shades added), the bowl, the baskets are all fine. I think you def need a large-ish mirror - great addition to any foyer - welcoming and practical. I don't love the chair. I'd replace it with a bench if you feel like you must have some sort of seating. I also agree with the other posts that the framed prints need to be reduced, re-arranged or eliminated in part or in total. Your options for paint or wallpaper with your chair rail are unlimited. Maybe decide on your art, lampshades and area rug, then decide what to do about the walls. The neutral colors on the walls allow you to do whatever you want with the rest of the space.

Add big pretty mirror instead. Pic too dark. Add color to table. In a silver candlesticks tall a bowl filled with green apples. Add a palm to side. And area rug with color not too big.

Paint is boring. Add wallpaper there are new shiny prints that would WOW it up.

I see rug now. Move up toward foyer table so it's about 10 " from it. It would be good if you took pic from front door.

Why is there a chair there? Make sure mirror is as area you have art. By the way hang art mirrors etc 4-5" from top of any furn. Never space pictures this far apart. No more than 2" between. You are trying to make a statement with art. Not just fill walls. You have a lot of art, in foyer and its not working. Most of it has no color or is too dark. If you want to brighten a room mirrors and colorful art will help you there.

Looks like you are going for a Asian feel? If so keep art work in that theme. Also try moving table to where chair is now. Remove lites keep bowl but replace with the green apples. Still put mirror there. On wall where table was remove everything and add a beautiful 6ft 3 piece screen. Find one in black with a Asian scene painted on it. pier one may have one, but may have to go on line. Stand it in front of wall. Will make a dramatic statement. Wall that chair is at now if long enough add bamboo tree next to table make sure pot is red ceramic.

I would remove the 2 pictures over the table and also remove the pictures going down the hall. I would get one large mirror to go over the table. Have 1 lamp and the bowl filled with one item. The chair should be removed from the space. An area rug would warm up the space and bring more color in.

Let's see, move table to where the green chair is. Put mirror above that. Move chair to where table was. Do you have another matching one? Then I would put the two together there with the ceramic table between. Try the art that is on the slanting wall behind the chairs.

I think you have plenty to work with :=) I would take down one set of "twin" prints, though, and put up something like a mirror or metal art to break up the artwall feeling. I agree with some of the others that the lamps, while lovely, are a bit large. Either move one to another room, or put two narrower ones there. I also think they need a shade. I am wondering what the purpose of the green chair is. It seems squished against the wall, but maybe that is the angle of the photo? I like the wicker under the table.

Paint &/or wallpaper will add instant depth! Even if it is only a deeper shade of taupe above or below chair rail.

I love the table,the storage and the center piece,but I would remove the candle or light stands? ,the twin paintings,they don't match or complement the space.i don't know what else you have in the room but I would add some tower candles with some panache,and perhaps a mirror with antique features and intricate design frame,which would complement the wonderful satin covered green chair I see.infact I would lose all the paintings I see in the photo and place them together on a flat wall,in an appealing manner.i hope this helps.
