UGLY BEIGE WINDOWS!!!

I recently purchased a new house and will be upgrading the house as the standard items that come with the house isn't to my taste. The look that I am in love with is the first photo - black and white with some gray tones - but the biggest obstacle is the color of our windows, as you can see in the photos below of the model unit. It's this beige color so I'm not sure how to pull of this clean look that I want with these windows. If I could, I'd like to take them out and replace them with black fiberglass or iron windows, but that will just be too costly and a major gut. I wish it were even just plain white!

Does any one have any ideas as to how I can achieve this look with beige window trims? I'm so hung up on this I can't move forward. I feel like the only color tone that would work with these windows is in the beige family, but I really don't like beige.... please help!

I love the black too. I don't know what to suggest that would work. Replace a window at a time!

I would paint your walls a soft white add trim around the windows and paint the trim black...black painted interior trim looks amazing but you need white walls so it has high contrast!

as you can see below this is a white window but it has black trim and window sil painted black so it gives you the illusion they are black windows.

@jansgirl haha! i'm so desperate to have these windows that i'd be willing to do that!

@home interiors with ease This is a great idea. would it work with beige trim windows tho? have you ever had the actual trims of the window painted?

if those are the vinyl windows, going to be difficult to paint the actual window itself. HIwithE has the perfect fix,,,frame the windows w/casing and paint it black, along w/the inside and sill. I did this with my white vinyl window and it looks nice.

better pic of that room above. I had the same pic saved!

Do not paint your vinyl windows but I assure you if you follow through with trimming out the windows and painting the trim and interior sides and sil it will look great!

Thanks for the idea ladies! Is this a pretty expensive job to do? How much would it be - ball park - per window shown in the photo?

can you do it yourself? It's pretty simple. get some primed window casing at HD and cut it to fit. nail into place. fill in holes w/wood filler. paint. Otherwise I don't know what a handyman or carpenter would charge you.

look at this site for how-to's. she explains everything and is top notch

What's the problem with painting the windows? You'll need to clean them and use an appropriate primer that adheres well to plastic, but I don't think there would be an issue using a dark color on the inside. Dark colors are not recommended outside because of the higher heat absorption that can damage the window. SW makes a line of higher reflectivity "vinyl safe" paints that get pretty dark. You should check with the window manufacturer about colors that can be used on the inside.

Because some of your windows are double hung the area that slides back and forth will scrape over time and with black will look horrible...I would urge you not to try to paint those vinyl windows....:(

Most modern windows only touch at the weather seals, which you don't want to paint in any event. Look at your window design before giving up.

No comment about your problem but a question on the windows in the first picture. Do you know who the manufacture is? If you do does any part of the window open? I am looking for something to remodel an old sunroom that has been bricked over and like the looks of these.

Painting the windows will likely invalidate your warranty. Can you work with the builder to order black windows instead?

We also have beige windows, house was built in 1988. I have "ignored" the beige on the inside. Several rooms are painted light gray with a floor length white panels on the sides of the windows for show. Your eye is drawn to the panels and not the color of the windows--really!

My problem is the outside of our house needs painting, it is brick and beige and needs to go with the windows more for a cohesive look.

OP--by the way what is the color of the outside of your home-- or is it brick?

@maifleur, I'm not sure who manufactures those windows. If you google iron windows or black steel windows, a bunch of brands should come up.

@smitrovich, no, the builders won't accommodate ANYTHING!! The market is very hot where I live, and these over million dollar houses come with very little flexibilities from the builder.

@debbie 1000, it will be a beige/tan color combo. I don't really care too much about the outside and besides, changing any colors on the outside requires HOA approval, which I want to avoid. I just want the inside to be perfect :)
