Place it opposite the FP so the console would have to be relocated.

    Charming home

I plan to hang the tv, if I use the opposite wall of the fireplace, I could use the console under it. Thoughts?

Yes, place it opposite the fireplace on the console.

Try the sofa facing the fireplace so it makes an L with the loveseat. Put the TV on the wall where the sofa was.

I was going to make Grover's suggestion. It's more natural and allows the fireplace and TV to both be enjoyed. I might pull the sofa back, though, and have the walkway in front of it, so that viewing angles feel better and you can pass through in various ways.

Wow....those are great options. I truly appreciate your time making that up. I was thinking the love seat was too much. Thank you!!!

Could you take out the love seat and add two chairs? Sorry to take advantage of your kindness but would just like to compare.

    Thanks!!

Thank you!! Do you like the tv opposite the fireplace or against the wall opposite the couch?

Mhcrossland, some thoughts about placement of the TV. If it's a major activity in this room, I would put it on the wall to the right of the fireplace. That's where it provides the best viewing for the most people.

If it's something you rarely watch and the room is more given to conversation, then I would arrange the seating for that purpose and let the TV fall where it may.

I suggest you try out a couple of different arrangements and see how they feel to you. I think your gut will tell you which one is right for you and the room.

hi there! are you going for a sleeker more modern look? if you are, you have way too many bulky pieces in one tight space.

•so what I would do is keep just the sofa-ditch the loveseat.
•place the sofa facing the wall to the right of the fireplace (if you're looking at the fp it's the wall to your right).
•invest in a few Besta pieces from Ikea (to create a TV unit and media storage) and put your TV on that same wall that the sofa would be facing.
•have your coffee table in between the sofa and tv.
•place a console or sofa table behind the sofa.
•get two poufs or two small cube shaped ottomans and place them side by side on the end of the coffee table closet to the fireplace.
•and maybe create an art or gallery wall (not too many pieces, just enough to add interest) on the same wall as the TV.
sorry if this is confusing, but I hope it helps. good luck!

also, the trunk you're using as a coffee table, isn't substantial enough as a coffee table due to the size and bulkyness of the sofa. so maybe tuck it under the same console table I suggested placing behind the sofa. also, you need symmetry and better lighting in the space. with that said, I suggest placing wall sconces, on both sides of the fireplace. maybe do a long swing arm type of sconce that can be moved and adjusted when needed. if you aren't able to have hardwired lighting installed, Ikea sells plug-in sconces and I think West Elm and Urban Outfitters do, as well.

one more thing, hang one huge, bold piece of art work above the fireplace rather than a few smaller pieces or the TV. and take out the ceiling fan and replace it with a statement piece light fixture. something sort of big and sculptural. to further help with lighting, also place a lamp on the console table. and if you have room, place an end table on the right end of the sofa and place a table lamp on there, as well. if you do decide to invest in an Ikea Besta unit, Ikea also sells LED strips that you could use on the bottom of the wall mounted units to bring in even more illumination.

No to the console table(too deep for the space) and place the TV over the fireplace, Keep the love seat! I like the plan drawn and is exactly what we talked about! I agree with getting rid of the fan and buying a nice fixture. Also a small end table for a lamp.

sorry the drawing is so unbelievably terrible (my 3-year old was pulling on my arm the entire time. lol), and obviously there wouldn't be such a big gap between the furniture and the wall where I suggested putting the TV, but you get the point.
and just to clarify, the things by the fireplace are long swing arm sconces.
do not put the TV above the fireplace!! a TV should never be the focal point in a space and if you place it above the fireplace, that's exactly what it would be...a total eyesore! never a good thing.

you might have to pinch the pic and zoom out on it to get a better look at what I wrote...
