Yes just as Ken says, the green eye, in time, would overtake your Paradigm. You could just try to remove some soil at the base of the green eye and twist and yank it out. The more root and crown you get, the more chance it will not return. But I find that it is pretty difficult to stop it from returning. This year I saw a yellow eye on my Goodness Gracious. Since it is in a pot, I removed the media and got it out with some roots. I will keep the yellow eye and see if it survives. But when it is too difficult to remove the hosta or its media/soil, then the yank method keeps it from developing and taking over the plant.

And next year, check to see if the green eye has returned. In my case, I didn't even notice it until I took a photo. When I viewed the photo, that was when I discovered it. I couldn't believe it. So I went outside to check and there it was.

two further thoughts ...

if its in the middle of a huge established clump ... wait until next year.. it MIGHT disappear on its own ...

second .... if you do bare root it ... instead of trying to cut it out.. cut out a good piece of the prime plant ... then destroy the other.. trying to get the solid out ... focus on the good part first ...

I agree with the "wait and see" scenario. The exception is June (in my garden) - the blue that appears always reappeared the following year. Now Revolution joins June as this is the second year the solid green has reappeared and has to be removed. It's a nice-looking green hosta so I will save it.

Jo, 'Revolution' sports to green regularly for me. I keep them as 'Green Revolution' and it is a nice plant on its own. It's vigorous, sets seed easily and deserves a spot in the garden. Here's one of mine about 3 weeks ago.....

I like your "Green Revolution", Pieter! I haven't checked on my 'Revolution' recently but it is time for me to separate mine and replant it. When I do, I will try to remember to post a photo.
